The biggest issue most believers face in seeing themselves in dominion on earth is that they lack knowledge and understanding of who they really are. Most just see themselves as Christian who believes in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. While this is true, they lack a spiritual understanding of who or what a person who calls themselves a Christian is, according to God’s word.
Gen 1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. All of creation is destined for an image of God’s appearance, but not all will be workers of it in the manner He has ordained. Those who know and understand who they are in Christ have been placed into this authority not by anything they have done but by covenant with God.
His commandment is to replenish the earth with humanity represented by two sexes, one being male and the other being female. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Both are blessed to be God’s blessing on this earth and are to be willing and obedient to do as the Holy Spirit leads them in working out their salvation in Christ, with an understanding of what God’s intent and concern are. Neither is above the other; both have equal status in this hierarchy. However, if married, there is an additional statute that applies because marriage is an ordained covenant wholly accepted by Him.
Eph 5:21-25 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Dominion is seen by many as a form of dominance rather than as a position within the hierarchy of God’s government at work on the earth. He has established a system of blessing built on the righteousness that incorporates several elements and individuals; it is orchestrated by God, overseen by Jesus, His Son, and carried out by the Holy Spirit through those who are led by Him. As wives fulfill their role in the covenant in submission to the position God sets for the husband, all manner of power and authority flows.
God loves His creation enough to see to it that, whatever the cost, He would provide all things we could ever have need of while in the life He intended for us. John 3:2 (AMP) But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are—wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence upon Him]. Everything God promised is tied to this system of blessing, so we must learn how to bring into manifestation in our lives every portion of it by faith in His ability.
This dominion is a position of authority that God put in place through which these blessings flow. As we see, everyone must align with the Father’s will for it to be done. The activity of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is not who He says is to be in dominion here; we are the ones this refers to since He said “let them have dominion” over creation. That emphasizes our part of this system, which is to flow blessings into the earth. And since all of the Godhead are in agreement to do His will, the focus must be on becoming transformed to spiritually operate this dominion/authority in the same manner.
Now, do not get all wound up over you having some manner of authority that allows you to wield a prowess of self-rule by this position. This dominion is not effective in having authority over any other part of humanity, as no one has the right to rule over another person’s will. And it has nothing to do with wielding power on earth, but has everything to do with His power working His authority with us in dominion on the earth that blesses those aligned in creation. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.
Though God has a kingdom in heaven, the very presence of His character is to be in all who are born again, evident in the fact that this kingdom is within them. Not in a physical sense, but in a spiritual one that is seen through an interaction with the Holy Spirit, doing as the ruler of the kingdom wills to do, having principles that must be applied, but require spiritual sense to discern. Luke 17:20-21 20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Something we should be conscious of is that dominion is not an option. I mean, God did not say, “Let them have dominion if they want to,” but in verse 27, He reiterates that we are to have dominion, as if it were a commandment for us to fulfill exactly what He says. The unknown aspect of an authority that is to be exercised on earth, that is from a creator God, by such dominion, is that there are no powers or authorities greater than this. And this is why we are to know and understand what it is all about so that all blessings He intends to promote in the earth are freely flowing as a result of our being transformed, spiritually.
